Dancing in the Sacred Cave

The Border Voices staff and volunteers, having recovered from a glorious April 2008 fair, are busy preparing for next year. As soon as we have a new schedule, we'll post it. Meanwhile, please enjoy the poster for the 2008 poetry fair, which captures some of the pizzazz that makes this annual celebration so much fun.
You might also like to hear what delighted audience members had to say about the 2008 fair.
Here’s a sampling of their comments:

“I just want to tell you what a wonderful experience it was for me to attend the event at San Diego State … those wonderful children … and the excitement of the parents … was really very special … I just wanted to express my admiration and appreciation.”
                            – Marjorie Jackson, La Jolla

“Thank goodness I was there. I will never be the same … I am eternally grateful. A magnificent event.” – Claudia Poquoc

“That was a wonderful event. I want to make a humble donation simply to show my appreciation for an organization (that teaches) kids to catch the moment of beauty in life with poetic language.” – Shawn

“Another marvelous feast of poetry and childhood … I was mesmerized by words and sounds and multi-culturalism coming from all the corners of the Earth … a magic event.”
                                                                – Teresa Gonzalez-Lee

Border Voices Poetry Fair 2008 was...
... a multimedia explosion of live performances and TV shows, during which 23 school districts will celebrate their poetry-in-the-schools programs at an all-day fair at San Diego State University. The city’s major newspaper – The San Diego Union-Tribune made good use of its co-sponsor status with front-page articles, ads and student poetry.
